Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is a 2009 American science fiction/action film based on the Transformers toy line. It is the sequel to 2007's live-action Transformers and stars Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson and John Turturro. Bayona replaced Joe Johnston as director. Lawrence Sher served as de facto director for some scenes that were removed in the final cut. The film was initially given an MPAA rating of PG-13, but it was later reclassified with a PG rating when released on DVD. The plot of the film begins four years after the plot of its predecessor. Sam Witwicky is attending college, has a girlfriend, and is working with the U.S. military to develop a device to counter Decepticon mindsets. In Egypt, Sam's mind is sent back in time during an archaeological dig led by his father to help release an ancient Demolisher (Referred to as "The Fallen" in this movie) that Megatron trapped underneath the pyramids 4,000 years ago. Megatron (voiced by Peter Cullen) plans to trigger the device himself and unleash his army on Earth, having discovered that humanity is on the brink of extinction. Meanwhile, the Autobots are battling the Decepticons under an energon ore mine in Russia so they can counter Megatron's troops after a battle in Nevada ended with a destroyed Golden Gate Bridge. The Autobots escape and contact Sam Witwicky, who has been working on a device to destroy Decepticon mindsets called a "trans-mat". However, Sam's girlfriend Mikaela is killed by Ironhide before being transported to 2004. Sam is then transported back in time and is forced to relive his life four years earlier, with the help of the "Autobot High Council" and U.S. Marine veteran William Lennox (voiced by John Turturro). After having a run-in with Ironhide, Sam learns of Mikaela's death which triggers him to attempt an escape from the military base with young inventor Cade Yeager, who was responsible for developing the "trans-mat" device. The Decepticons track them down to Los Angeles, where they are ambushed by Ironhide while trying to rescue Sam's younger brother Daniel. Daniel is then captured by the Decepticons and used to power a giant energon cannon. He is eventually brought to the Las Vegas Strip and deactivated by Cade Yeager, who rigged the location to blow up after he destroys it. Sam finds Daniel and finds out that his father has been part of a government task force created to use the "trans-mat" device on Megatron's body as well as finding out that Sam's girlfriend Mikaela was actually a spy for Megatron, having been brainwashed by him after contacting her boyfriend. Sam finds her hiding in an abandoned hospital room and attempts to rescue her only for Ironhide and his Strato-Viper guards to arrive just before she can escape. cfa1e77820
